Brush piles take more trailer space than they look
A brush pile does not compress. Branches stack badly, and a pile that looks like a single trailer load routinely turns out to be two, which is the most common surprise on a yard job.
Cutting limbs down before collection genuinely changes the number, because it lets the load be packed rather than piled. It is one of the few jobs where preparation directly reduces the price.
Stumps are a different matter entirely. They are dense, they are anchored, and they need equipment. That is where having an excavator on the fleet stops being a detail and starts being the reason to call.
